◆ NM HOLLIS INSTITUTE FOR CHANGE ◆

Sustainable change begins with human capacity.

We help small service organizations create sustainable change by building the human capacity to carry it out — across people, culture, and everyday practice.

━━━━ ◆ ━━━━

Does this pattern feel familiar?

Good programs. Dedicated staff. Real effort. So why isn't change happening more often?

Drop-off

Participants start but don't complete programs.

Under-use

Resources are available, but utilization remains inconsistent.

re-work

Staff spend significant time re-engaging people.

friction

Procedures designed to help can become barriers to navigate.

capacity draining procedures

Well-meaning systems consume the energy meant for the mission itself.

Human capacity lens
━━━━ ◆ THE HUMAN CAPACITY LENS ◆ ━━━━

Wanting change and having the capacity to carry it out are not the same thing.

People and organizations often want change deeply. Yet without the internal capacity — and an environment that supports it — even the strongest intentions stall.

The human capacity lens looks past willingness and into what is actually available: attention, energy, clarity, structure, and the conditions that let people carry change through to completion.

A different way to approach change

NMHIC works with the whole organization — leadership, staff, and participants — using practical frameworks people can keep using long after we're gone.

01

Simple change

We translate complexity into steps people can actually see and act on.

02

Whole-organization support

Not just leadership. Not just staff. We build capacity across every layer.

03

Practical frameworks

Repeatable tools your team continues using long after the engagement ends.

04

People-first capacity building

We grow capacity in the person and in the organization at the same time.

05

Personalized to small organizations

We work closely with your people, culture, environment, and desired outcomes.

━━━━ ◆ FOUNDER STORY ◆ ━━━━

Twenty years. One pattern that kept appearing.

Across more than two decades in juvenile justice, education, adult re-entry, and service industry settings, the same quiet pattern kept surfacing:

People often wanted change. Organizations wanted change for them. But wanting change and having the capacity to carry it out were not always the same thing.

NMHIC was built to close that gap — to help small service organizations grow the human capacity that makes change sustainable, in the people doing the work and in the systems around them.

━━━━ ◆ DISCOVERY PILOTS ◆ ━━━━

nmhic Human capacity discovery pilots

We are seeking three partner organizations to pilot this work.

Our pilots are designed to generate real evidence-what we discover, what we implement, and what changes- so we can build a stronger future together.

Gain a fresh perspective through a human-capacity lens
Receive practical, usable strategies.
Strengthen engagement, retention, and outcomes

Contribute to a repeatable model for sustainable change
